Whether he actually retires or not... this is pretty good but completely mismarketed in the states. I guess I should've learned my lesson after the House of Flying Dagger ad campaign, but damn it i wanted more fighting in this! I was sold on a jet-li-remakes-bloodsport vibe and that's the vibe i wanted! Oh well... after really slowing down and resetting my tempo, I liked this one well enough. I mean there's still plenty of fighting... just a lot of really slow planting crops and lesson learning crap too. I am still just a casual fan of this genre, especially these mega epic movies that've seemed to pop up on American screens since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon... but as those go this one was pretty good. |
