| 02.23.05 | Netflix | A dude finds out he's dying and goes through stuff... This is noted as one of Kurosawa's best... and it's really atypical of other films of his that i've seen. Maybe that's just because it's set in modern day. It also really strikes a chord with me an, i suspect, anyone who's ever worked a government job. After that, there are some meatier-than-Joe-vs.-the-volcano similarities. it's very good, but at over 2 hours, not somethng I am in a hurry to watch again. the last hour especially seems like a short into itself... |
