| 06.22.07 | Borrowed | John Cleese is a time-obsessed headmaster late for something when everything goes wrong because he's also kind of an ass. I guess that's the American way of synopsising this. If I was British it would take 95 minutes and be much more clever. Not that I didn't like it though. I really enjoyed how uch miscommunication they could squeeze out of every line. It's great when you have three characters in a scene each talking about something completely different and yet still talking to each other such that it makes different sense to each one. I particularly liked the teacher caught smoking at the beginning. I don't think he says one complete sentence the entire movie. Really great writing. Lastly, my damn Jamaa Fanaka Goodbar is still on my desk and it's a constant temptation to eat even though it's now a priceless autographed memento. I should really hide it in a drawer or something somewhere out of sight. Damn my sweet tooth! |
