12.29.11 | Netflix | Last movie in the series and probably the most heavily edited or streamlined of the three. So much of the cat and mouse between The Section and Blomqvist is omitted here, it hardly seems like anything. Furthermore, the whole conflict with Erika backing down rather than taking a new job... probably better for screenplay purposes but it completely changes her character. It's also hard to live up to the complete dismantling of Teleborian in the book but the movie still does a good job of it. Without the human trafficking though the fight at the end seemed a bit arbitrary but whatever. I wonder if these movies are well regarded aside from Noomi Rapace's performance. They seem kind of mediocre to me. Definitely a case of the book clouding my judgement. I'm still glad to have seen them though. |
