| 12.06.13 | Netflix | I'm happy that Robert Zemeckis is directing live action again because I think he's one of the best action directors out there... but most of this movie isn't really good. It's super heavy handed and familiar and, aside from the crash sequence, felt plodding and slow and hackneyed. I feel like there've been plenty of really authentic portrayals of alcoholism and AA and adiction and all that kind of thing that this movie doesn't really prove worthy against. Shame because I wanted to like it... but it just didn't happen for me. At least I finally got the see Nadine Velazquez from My Name is Earl naked. So that's nice. |
