05.10.14 | Netflix | Well... I don't know. Something about these movies feels like if I tried to go back to college. They're trying really hard but it's just not the same. I actually don't mind all the new material with Gandalf and whatnot... and the story of The Hobbit is fun... so I don't really hate these movies, but they do feel long and stretched out to me. I was kind of debating whether or not to get the extended edition of the first Hobbit (because I prefer the extended editions of the LotR films) but... it kind of already feels extended. I'm not sure what else they could put in? Nowhere near as bad as the Star Wars prequels... but still just not quite the same. I wish it was. I feel bad that Jackon's returned to his legacy and it's not going as well as it did the first time round... |
