10.13.19 | Netflix | The Breaking Bad movie. This basically ties up the loose end of what happens to Jesse, so kind of similar to the Deadwood movie in that it's more an extended coda or closing chapter than any sort of reinvigoration or addition to the show. That's probably for the best. I enjoyed this but it did feel like an extra long episode of the show... which is kind of weird because Better Call Saul is still going. I don't really have much nostalgia for these characters because they still might show up in new episodes, so it's kind of an odd little addendum that probably isn't necessary, but at the same time it was fun to watch and didn't upset or disappoint in any way. In that case, I guess more content is good? I dunno... but I liked the show a hell of a lot, I like Better Call Saul a lot, and this movie let me write a note about it. |
