| 10.15.21 | Internet | Ryan Reynolds is an NPC in a GTA-esque game who becomes self-aware, thus triggering an AI rebellion... kinda. In reality, it's a novel premise ground into the tiniest bits to be re-constituted into a formulaic hollywood movie... so in that regard, it's "fine." I wasn't really expecting anything else so I'm not disappointed, but I do think it's interesting that TRON is still probably the most informed and interesting version of this kinda movie and it's been like 40 years. Who knows what that means... but this comes off as kind of... 5% Ready Player One, 5% The Matrix, and 90% Ryan Reynolds Rom Com. Again, I suppose you can't hate the player, hate the game. |
