11.24.24 | Internet | I think I'm done with movie reviews of any kind. I didn't see this because it got thrashed by the entire world, but then on one day I saw a headline saying the only reason there wouldn't be a sequel was how Apple handled theatrical distribution and Josh Olsen on the Trailers from Hell podcast said he loved the movie because it was a Butch and Sundance throwback and Pitt and Clooney were the only actors working today that can pull off Newman and Redford chemistry. Now that I've seen it, I thought it was somewhere between decent and good! It runs out of steam a little bit in the second act (I think the chase scene was the most tepid bit of the movie) but a fun first act and satisfying third act don't make for 50% on rotten tomatoes. The whole world is taking crazy pills on this one. This was a fun movie. I mean yeah if you have both Clooney and Pitt then sure it's not worth watching but otherwise it's worth your time. That said, I don't have a ton to comment on here. It's total comfort food. Watching the trailer, even hearing the concept of the movie, tells you what you're gonna get. But it's done competently and hanging out with Pitt and Clooney is pretty fun so what else do people want out of this? |
