| 09.21.25 | Internet | Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza recreate Mendoza's action in Iraq with a real-time account. No score, very technical, striving for authenticity. I think they nailed it; felt real to me (not that I'd know). I think for as rich a genre as the war movie, there's always a draw for these types of films. This felt to me like a new generation's Black Hawk Down. I'm not sure if there's a message behind it or anything like that but you do really feel in this teams shoes for the hour and a half that you're with them. Plus it opens on the Eric Prydz video for Call On Me. Classic video which makes for a great and funny opening to the film. Anyway, not much to say about this one. I liked it, thought it was very well done, nice tight 90-minutes. Exactly what I wanted out of it. |
